8:00 AM - 11:20 AM Morning Session:
Lisa Berus, MSN, MEd, RN, CAIP, CNAMB, CASSP, will start the day with a review of IP surveillance and investigation, as well as sterile processing. Strong IP surveillance in your center can establish baselines, identify risks and outbreaks, measure compliance with accreditation and reg-ulatory standards, and direct quality improvement and education ef-forts. Next, she’ll shfit to a deep dive on sterile processing; a complex department with multiple steps required to fully prepare. This presentation will review the required steps necessary to properly prepare instrumen-tation for use in the OR. It will review quality controls, why they are necessary, and how to effectively interpret them. The presentation will give the nurse manager and other staff in the ASC the knowledge to assist in the SPD area ensuring that practices are followed to prevent infections in patients.
